Situated just a 5 minute drive, off the Queen Charlotte Drive by Linkwater, we offer accommodation set on an acre of bush, with amazing views overlooking the Mahau Sound. We have  access to the water, allowing our guests to participate in many water sports such as kayaking, fishing, swimming, snorkelling, or take the dinghy out for a spot of exercise.

We are 45 minutes drive from Blenheim, 35 minutes from Picton and 1 hour 20 to Nelson. So you can see, we are very central to all areas. The closest supermarket is at Havelock, it's not that big and closes at 6.00pm.

At Sounds of Silence guesthouse, we want to offer international visitors, as well as fellow New Zealanders the most relaxing break they could have and this is why we provide Airport or ferry pickup and drop off if that is what you prefer. No need for a rental car with a 3 day stay we chauffeur you about in our BMW X3, showing you the Marlborough Sounds you might not otherwise see. This season it has come to  my attention that many guests are finding out about the Apex Rental car deal, they are the only ones I have heard of that allow you to pick up a rental car in the North Island and take it on the ferry to do the South Island and vice versa. It saves all the hassle of unloading your car at the ferry. They even pay for the car crossing. That saves you about $200 one way.

The Guest wing is very private and you can be self sufficient, the upstairs Queen guest bedroom is part of our house, so therefore less private, but you do get amazing views, modern comfortable lounge, TV/library room, and 2 outdoor seating areas to soak up the sounds of the Bellbirds, Tui's and just enjoy the peace and quite of the Marlborough Sounds.
