This is the View from the Lookout.....

Whether you have just one day to do part of the track or 4 days, access to the track is only 10 minutes away when starting at Anakiwa and this part of the track to the Te Mahia Saddle is an easy 3 ½ hr walk, via Umungata Bay, a great place for a picnic.
Once you reach Te Mahia Saddle you may have enough energy to do the climb to the top where you are 417m above sea level and you will experience the most amazing views, which overlook The Queen Charlotte Sound, The Kenepuru Sound and The Pelorus Sound. You can see the ferries coming and going into Picton, and the water taxis darting about.

Sometimes on the track you will see a bird similar to the Kiwi, called the Weka, a brown flightless bird that is very inquisitive and often known to steal your sandwiches.
If you prefer to start with the Lookout Point walk then you can drive 20 minutes along Kenepuru Rd and start at the Mistletoe Bay entrance of the track and carry on to Torea Saddle which again is about a 3 ½ hr walk after doing the lookout walk which is about 1 hr to the top.
One of my favourite picnic spots is actually down at Mistletoe Bay where I take my guests and enjoy some nice food and a bottle of wine.

There is also a one day excursion leaving from Picton on the water taxis and they drop you off at Ship Cove in the morning and after you’ve walked to Endeavour Inlet, about 4hrs, they collect you from Furneaux Lodge in the afternoon, this walk was a particular highlight to guests from England.

If you are into Mountain Biking, then the Queen Charlotte Track is a great adventure for you, it takes 2-3 days and we will gladly point you in the right direction, drop your backpacks off at your next nights accommodation and see you on your way back through. The Northern section of the track is closed to bikes during 1st Dec to 28th Feb each year, but it doesn’t prevent you from doing our end of the track.
If you need more information about any of the options available just let me know.
